So, I am up at my parents house and have been for about a week now. Initially we were only suppose to be here for the holiday weekend, then we were snowed in and when we could finally leave, I came down with a nasty fever, so Elliott and I stayed while Preston went back down to Provo for school and work etc. When Elliott was born, we were told that it is best to have him circumcised within 2 weeks of his birth. He was born on 9 February so I was going to do it this past tuesday but we were snowed in here. So I made an appointment for him to get his surgery done up here. Since our insurance doesn't cover it because it is considered a "cosmetic surgery" I figured it doesn't really matter where I get it done. I made the appointment with my sister's pediatrician. When we arrived today to have the surgery done they told us that they couldn't/wouldn't do it because he was over 10 lbs. HE WAS BORN OVER 10lbs!! They then proceeded to tell us that because he is over 10 lbs we are going to have to go to the only hospital in Utah that performs this surgery and he will have to be put under and it will cost quite literally an arm and a leg. As you can imagine, I was FREAKING out. Immediately started bawling. I was so worried about how we were ever going to get this done. And I was livid at ALL of the nurses, doctors and pediatricians that we had spoken with who knew Elliott's weight and neglected to inform us of any of this. Fuming, we left. I then called my pediatrician in Provo who Elliott has his two week check up with on Monday and asked them if they knew anything about this. They didn't and said that they most definitely could perform the surgery there in their office and even the same day as his 2 week check up! And what's even better, they will do it for $40 cheaper. At this point my anger switched completely and I now wanted to unleash my wrath upon the completely full of it nurse who got me so worked up and worried. Where did she pull that out of? One place I can think of is where the sun don't shine. I am seriously contemplating calling her and telling her that she is full of it and that if their office is the only office who isn't equipped to handle 10 lbder+ circumcisions then they should either update their facilities or stop practicing. And they should definitely stop scaring the heck out of brand new, relatively poor mothers. I should have written down her name. Dang. Oh well. If I call, I guess I will just unleash my wrath on whoever answers the phone. Is that mean? I don't really care. Should I? Well, sorry if you think so, but I don't. I just want this horrible procedure to be over with. Poor little guy. But all in all, everything is working out for the best. So that's a definite plus.

man, i think you must have bad luck when it comes to doctors and nurses! i probably would have said a few choice words to that nurse! hopefully sunday will be a MUCH BETTER day for you... HAPPY BIRTHDAY KERZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have flipped out. I have little tolerance for inept people. Good for you for keeping it together! I yell at people for minor reasons compared to circumcision.
