7 More And Blessings

7 days more (hopefully not more than that) and Elliott will finally be here! We are very excited/nervous. We just pray that he is healthy. That is ALL we care about.

Yesterday was an interesting day for Preston. In the morning, he had a doctor's appointment because he had been feeling a bit under the weather (exhausted, loss of appetite, etc) at the appointment, they informed Preston that he has mono. Nice eh? A week before our baby is due and Preston gets mono. Luckily his kind can only be contracted through saliva, so as long as he doesn't kiss me or Elliott and doesn't take up the strange habit of walking around licking people, no one should get his disease.

While Preston was at the appointment, they had to do some extensive blood tests as well as other tests which made the appointment about 4+ hours long. Because his appointment was so long, he missed his first class in which he had an assignment due. But the doctor gave him a note excusing him and we thought everything would be just fine. Well, when Preston scanned and emailed his doctors note with an explanation, the only response he got was from a Teachers Assistant telling him that his absence is not excused and that he cannot turn in his assignment late which would automatically bring his grade down jepordizing his GPA, scholarship as well as acceptance to graduate school. This upset Preston a great deal, and you can imagine how I reacted. I think I said something like "If you're not excused for having tests done by a doctor to determine you have mono, then what the heck validates an excused abscence!? Forget that TA, go to the professor and tell him this, and if that doesn't work, go to the department head and you tell them you are to be excused, or I will! And they wont like that!"

In addition to the previous two trials, Preston had one more added to his plate yesterday. Where Preston works, they have every employee submit to them what their schedule will be like for the upcoming semester so that they can schedule them in accordance with their classes etc. Preston did this and his schedule was accepted by the company. However, over the last few weeks, they have continually scheduled him for strange times during the day when they know full and well that he has class. Preston, twice this month already, forgot about his strange schedule and was late twice...with this company you can only be late twice a month. If you are late a third time you may be terminated. Yesterday, this happened for the third time this month. Preston called me from work on his break to vent about this. I responded like this..
"What's the point in verifying your schedule every semester if they are going to make you miss classes anyway!? Go talk to you supervisor and tell her that it isn't your fault that the company keeps ignoring your already accepted schedule and tell her to fix it! Or I will come down there and talk to and walk all over whoever I need to in order to get this straightened out! I will go to the CEO himself, I will get his address and go to his house, knock on his door and tell him that his company and their ridiculous policies stink!"

Well, Preston, thankfully, has a much calmer head on his shoulders than I do at times. He was able to talk to his supervisor and explain the situation to her..she was then able to go to whoever she needed to in order to make one of the tardies as if they never happened. Therefore putting Preston back at 2 tardies and making it so we will actually be able to provide for Elliott when he is born.

When Preston got off work and was able to tell me that all of this had been worked out, I was SO grateful to heavenly Father for that great blessing. Preston also told me that he wrote another email to the TA and got his excused absence all figured out as well. ANOTHER blessing!

It was a hard day for Preston. Poor guy. Mono, an awful grade AND possible termination from work. We are grateful that everything was worked out. Well, the only thing we need to fix now is Preston's mono. Poor guy can't even kiss his own baby's cheeks when he is born. And for any of you who know Preston, he LOVES baby's (and my) cheeks.

We really are such a blessed little family.

Wow- what a mess! Hopefully it will all be cleared up before the baby gets here!

And I keep meaning to apologize for missing your baby shower- we were out of town for the weekend. Best of luck in the next few days!

Oh no! Hey, I thought you had to drink like, 3 gallons of some infected person's saliva in order to contract Mono? No? Preston could just smooch you 2 through some saran wrap! Give me some time to think on it...I'm sure I can come up with a better suggestion. Perhaps one with some scientific evidence to back it up.

Sounds like you 2 make a good pair when it comes to catastrophes like that. I got mono right after we got married and for your info Bo never got it (and we kissed all the time:) so don't worry too much at least not about you getting it, I don't know about little E though. Well, hang on through the rough times, as soon hold little E in your arms you will feel great!
