The Drifter

After a week and some odd days, Bobby Z has left us and moved on. To where exactly, we aren't sure. We know he is some how, by some means, on his way to a blue grass festival in Florida. After spending friday night with us at my parent's house for my dad's surprise 50th birthday party, the following day, he departed. On our travel from Huntsville, back to Provo, Bobby expressed to me his need and desire to make his bladder gladder (he needed to use the restroom). So, at one of the exits in Salt Lake, we pulled into a gas station. While Preston and I were inside grabbing some snacks, Bobby had asked for the keys to the car. I assumed this was so that he could get into the car to be ready to go down to Provo. I was wrong in that assumption. When we walked out of the gas station, there he was, with everything he owns sitting on the sidewalk. I immediately knew what was going on. Preston took a second to catch on. When he finally did catch on, he said "oh Bobby, you're not leaving." Bobby simply replied, "It's time." We knew that his departure would come somewhat unexpected as was his arrival, but this was VERY unexpected. After hugs were exchanged, Preston got a little sentimental. Bobby's only response to this was some sort of a broadway-esque song he sang as he danced around Preston about a drifter who visited Jamaica. As the song was ending, he began walking away and waving. Then he was gone.

Bobby, if you ever read this, Thank you, from both of us.

Bobby delighted us all with his accordionic talents at my dad's surprise party. He played "Happy Birthday" while we all sang. It was great. Unfortunately, I didn't get a video of the event.

Hayes had a blast with Bobby and his "cordy song." (that's what Hayes called the accordions.)

He especially liked the accordion that was "Hayes'" (aka, a small almost child-sized accordion.)

If you notice at the very end of the clip, Hayes, after his performance, commands us all to clap by saying "now, clap!"
