Recently I have been pondering. And when I ponder, it can get interesting. The topic of pondering has been talents. Thinking about what talents I currently have and what talents I would really like to develop. Some examples include: sewing, quilting/blanket making, and photography. I have decided to do all of them...eventually.
Two of these talents, as I am sure you have noticed, are very much related. In learning how to quilt and blanket make, I will also be learning better how to sew. I want to develop this talent so that there are more better looking quilts in the world. Also, so that my baby does not have ugly blankets with pictures of cartoon-like dogs on them with a word bubble saying "woof." Kind of like this one...
Or one that is red and navy blue that is supposed to look like a jersey, but in fact does not, that says "All Star." In fact they look so different than anything a jersey looks like, that they have their own category.
I am positive that this is somewhat of a monopoly in our current society's system. Maybe those hideous blankets are cheaper to make than the more simple, cute ones and therefore the companies can produce the cheaper, ugly ones, sell them for way more than they are worth, thereby giving us no choice but to purchase said blankets and some how still manage to sleep at night.
Nothing against anyone who has these blankets or may even like them. But answer me this, if you could make ANY blanket in the world, what would it look like? Does it look like these blankets? I didn't think so.
The third talent is just so I can take good pictures of my kids. Well, and other things, but that is my main motivation. I don't want my photo albums to have the quality of polaroids. Not that I have anything against polaroids, but you know.
Of course, I plan on further developing my talents I currently possess, such as writing, but these are the plans for new ones.

thanks for the laugh.
Quilts are beautiful and even more so when made with love! Let me also give a shout out to ugly blankets and the purposes they serve=
1. keeping the bottom of the drawer warm and hanging out there until the pretty blankets are all dirty
2. spills/spit up too big for 'burp-rags'
3. if they are small enough they can be baby doll blankets
Just a few ideas for the ugly blankets out there- we love you, but we love the handmade quilts even more :)
