Isabella Ann was a gift from none other than Carrie ANN Miller! (note that they both have the middle name "Ann".) There is a story behind the gift as well as the life of Isabella Ann. Here they are.
About two weeks ago, I decided one day that I wanted a gold fish. I don't know why, and the strong desire really only lasted for that day. Carrie and I went gold fish shopping, but I ended up not buying anything because I was going to "think about it." Well, I didn't. I lost sight of my 24 hour obsession and moved on with my hectic life. Carrie, like the good friend that she is, did not forget.
This past Sunday, Carrie was at a Relief Society meeting with one of the Stake Relief Society leaders. The lesson was an object lesson. And Isabella Ann was the object. After the lesson was over, the sister told everyone that she had had Isabella Ann since July, using her frequently for object lessons in Relief Society. She also announced that Isabella was up for adoption. Carrie quickly threw her hand into the air and said "I'll take her!" That night Carrie gave Isabella to me.
Like I told you, she's a great friend.
So when I received Isabella, she was in a sort of tupperware container of which she could not see out of. Obviously I had to go and buy a fish bowl and food at the very least to provide for my new pet. After letting the fresh water I had put in the new bowl sit and become room temperature I decided it was time to introduce Isabella to her new home. However, I came upon a snag. I had neglected to purchase a little net to scoop her out of the container and place her into the new bowl. I then had the brilliant idea to just hold the lid to the tupperware against the container to use it as a strainer of sorts. Upon doing this, Isabella was drained as well and fell into my kitchen sink! I felt so awful! When I saw what I had done, I cupped my cheeks with my hands and exclaimed, "Oh! that is NOT what I meant to do!" as if I were actually talking to Isabella trying to reassure her that I was not a horrible pet owner.
After she was safe in her new home and settled down a bit, I decided that I wanted to take a couple of pictures for you all. The first one I took, I accidentally left the flash on and blinded poor Isabella Ann. Preston tried to convince me that she probably didn't even notice. But I can't help but think otherwise. Just look at her pupils in the two different pictures! I am sure I blinded her. Not permanently mind you, just for a moment. But still.
